The #1 Anti-Aging Tip I Gave My Daughter
One of the main things that causes your skin to age, that causes your skin to look blotchy and uneven, to look wrinkly, creepy, dry, dehydrated and... and... old... is... sun damage!
Yeah, sun damage!
The thing is, this starts when you're really young.
You just don't notice it until you're... you're... well... kinda old.
Not really, but... when you're in your 20's, thinking about being 40 is kinda old.
And in your 20's, thinking about being 50... forget about it!
I think all of us in our 50's (and beyond) agree that if we knew then what we know now, about sun protection, we'd go back and change a couple of things, like how we take care of our skin!
This is the #1 anti-aging tip I gave my daughter.
She knows, through my mistakes, and now my example, that if she takes an extra minute to take care of her skin... to protect her skin now, it be healthy, and look both youthful, and beautiful, long past her 50's!
The #1 anti-aging tip I gave my daughter is to protect her skin every, single, day, with sunscreen!
Using sunscreen every single day is the best thing you can do to not only stop your skin from aging prematurely, but help to protect your skin from skin cancer.
All the things we dislike about our skin as we age:
Loss of collagen
Loss of elastin
Uneven skin tone
... is all exacerbated and accelerated by the damaging UV rays of our friend, the sun.
Using Sunscreen on your Body
I think most can get on board with protecting their body with sunscreen.
Especially with so many sunscreen options available; both chemical sunscreens and mineral sunscreens.
I think when it comes to using sunscreen on the face, that's where some have issues.
Common Complaints About Using Sunscreen on Your Face
Using sunscreen on your face is little more complicated and takes a little more trial and error than using sunscreen to protect the skin your body. That's because using sunscreen on your face...
Can leave your skin feeling greasy, or...
Can leave your skin feeling dried out.
Can clog your pores.
Can cause pimples.
Can exacerbate acne.
Can burn sensitive skin.
Can irritate rosacea.
Can sting your eyes.
Can cause your makeup to pill.
Can cause your makeup to slide around.
Can leave a white cast.
And, most of it stinks!
Yeah, I've heard them all. And experienced many of these issues myself.
That'a why I love mineral sunscreens for my face. And not just any mineral sunscreens, but tinted mineral sunscreens!
The Benefits of Using a Tinted Mineral Sunscreen
Tinted mineral sunscreens, formulated specifically for your face, are awesome because they negate many of the issues we have with using either chemical sunscreens or white, mineral sunscreens on our face. Such as...
They're super hydrating - especially if you have dry skin.
They absorb into your skin so there is no greasy residue left behind.
They're tinted so there's no white cast.
They help to even out your skin tone.
They leave your face with a pretty youthful glow (like a BB cream, but lighter).
They don't burn your skin.
They don't sting your eyes.
They don't clog your pores.
They don't irritate your skin.
They play nicely under makeup.
Most are unscented.

My other favorite is the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30 | Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen With Zinc Oxide & Titanium Dioxide:
The CeraVe Tinted Mineral Sunscreen is also a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30. It has over 3300 4.5 star reviews on Amazon and also comes with free shipping!
The absolute BEST thing you can do for your skin, and as part of your anti-aging skincare routine, is to wear sunscreen every. single. day!
Regardless of your age!
Using a tinted mineral sunscreen is my favorite sunscreen to use on my face! It literally feels like I have nothing on, yet I know my skin is protected.
And a little side note... if you're using photo-sensitive anti-aging retinoids, retinols, or serums, these cause your skin to be much more susceptible to sun damage.
It's imperative that you protect your skin from the damaging UV rays of the sun all the time, and especially if you're using these types of products, or you'll end up damaging your skin instead of restoring it.
