My 15 Year Old Self
We should embrace everyday as a celebration of who we are. I didn't always feel this way.
It took me a long time, too long, to fully embrace who I am and who I project out into the world.
I lived my youth timid and veiled.
If I could go back and have a chat with my 15 year old self...
There are things I know now that I didn't know then. There are things I just don't care about now. And, there are things I care way more about now.
These things are my truths.
My 15 year old self.... living life backwards.
What would I say?
What would I say if I could go back and have a conversation with my 15 year old self?
That shy, introverted, empathetic girl...
That girl full of idealism, hopes and dreams...
That girl that was too afraid to take a chance... truly live... shine... and embrace who she was...
That girl that found horses and knew they would save her someday...
I'd set her straight on a few things. I'd get her onto her path much sooner than I found mine.
If I could enlighten my 15 year old self I'd start with...
All the confidence you need is already inside you. Let it shine!
The only one who has to believe in you, is you.
The only one you have to answer to, is you.
Your kind heart is vulnerable. Protect it.
Always stand up for what you believe in, without fear of repercussions.
Always live your life with conviction, passion & purpose.
As long as there is life, there is hope.
And... don't let your decisions be guided by lack or fear.
In a small way, I feel like I've had an opportunity to go back and make these changes, as these are the things I instill in my daughter every. single. day.
She is the me I should have been.
She is the me I am now.
It's nice to finally feel whole.
Oh, and to that girl that found horses and knew they would save her someday... you got that 100% right. And they continue to do so, every. single. day!
