Updated Evening Skincare Routine

A couple of weeks ago I shared my Updated Morning Skincare Routine. If you missed that article you can read it, here.

I've also made a change to my Evening Skincare Routine that I'm super excited about!!

Today I'm showing you my Updated Evening Skincare Routine!

You'll find videos on most of the things I use in my Updated Evening Skincare Routine over on my YouTube channel if you want even more information.

I've also included a quick checklist you can print out for easy reference, below.

Let's dive into my Updated Evening Skincare Routine!

Cleansing

The first thing I do in the evening is shower and cleanse my face. I keep a bottle of the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser in my shower.

Sometimes I use a dupe, but always come back to the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser because it's my favorite.

This cleanser is formulated for normal to dry skin. It gently cleanses, hydrates, and helps restore the protective skin barrier - or the skin’s lipid barrier.

It contains 3 ceramides (1, 3, 6-II) which are key in helping the skin to retain moisture.

What is the Lipid Barrier

The Lipid Barrier is found in the Stratum Corneum.

The Stratum Corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis.

The lipid barrier protects our bodies from damage, bacteria, allergens, trans-epidermal water loss, and environmental stressors.

Protecting the lipid barrier is super important! Especially as we age.

After I cleanse my skin, I gently blot it off.

Curology

Curology is the newest addition to my Evening Skincare Routine and I'm super excited about it!

I started using Curology back in June.

I just finished up my first bottle and cracked open my second! And, I have to say, I'm loving it!

If you're not familiar with Curology it's a customized prescription program that pairs you with a dermatologist to address your skincare issues. It's all done online.

For me, it's the most convenient way to get my prescription Retin-A conveniently and cost effectively!

How Curology Works

You complete a questionnaire, upload a couple of photos and they assign you a dermatologist that formulates your prescription cream using the best three ingredients to address your skincare issues.

I want all the anti-aging so the 3 ingredients in my prescription are: Tretinoin (Retin-A), Azelaic Acid, and Niacinamide.

You can adjust the formula up, or down, by contacting your provider via their online form.

How I use Curology

I take 2 pumps of my Curology (about the size of two peas) and apply them to my face, neck, and the backs of my hands. I rub it in really good and let it set for about 5 minutes before I go in with my serums. (I do not apply it to my eye lids or my lips.)

The first thing I noticed after using it a couple of times, my skin felt super smooth and soft!

Because I've had zero sensitivity with it, I just had my dermatologist increase the percentage of my Tretinoin.

My goal is to get to 1% in my prescription to reap the full anti-aging benefits of this proven anti-aging, wrinkle fighting, ingredient!

Serums

The next step in my Updated Evening Skincare Routine is to apply my anti-aging serums.

The first serum I use in the evening is my Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum.

The Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum is an antioxidant that energizes skin cells to rebuild collagen and elastin.

It’s infused with Matrixyl 3000 which helps to maximize the synthesis of collagen in the skin.

It’s an anti-aging powerhouse that, over time, works to repair and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

I use three to four drops of the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum and apply it all over my face, my neck, upper chest, and the backs of my hands.

After I apply my Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum, I go right in with my Matrixyl serums: Timeless Matrixyl 3000 Serum and Timeless Matrixyl Synthe'6 Serum.

I apply 3 to 4 drops of each exactly where I applied my CoQ10 Serum. I apply one Matrixyl then go right in with the other.

Using the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 Serum is like literally rebuilding your skin from the inside out. It stimulates collagen and improves overall skin elasticity, firmness and texture.

The Timeless Matrixyl Synthe’6 Serum contains six skin-building essentials with polypeptides that target pronounced wrinkles and expression lines. It helps to lift and plump the skin.

All of these serums are infused with hyaluronic acid. That helps to further lock in moisture and helps to repair the skin’s lipid barrier.

Moisturize

The next step in my Updated Evening Skincare Routine is to lock everything in with my anti-aging skincare moisturizers!

To do that I grab my Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum and my CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

The Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum is 100% pure. This serum contains 1% pure hyaluronic acid, the highest concentration to maintain the skin’s moisture. It super charges any moisturizer.

The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is infused with hyaluronic acid and ceramides so it helps the skin hold onto hydration while it restores the skin’s lipid barrier.

I take a small pump of my CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and add 2 drops of my Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum to it and apply it to my face, eyelids, neck, upper chest, and the backs of my hands.

Right before bed I apply an Eye Cream and my CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream. Both of these are heavy moisturizers that help to add additional moisture to my skin throughout the night.

Now all of those yummy serums and added moisture are locked into place! I’m literally feeding my skin from the outside in!

And remember, moisturized, hydrated skin, is youthful looking skin!

From start to finish all of that takes me no more then 5 minutes and I’m set for the night!
