Updated Morning Skincare Routine

Over the past couple of months I’ve made some changes to my skincare routines.

Today I'm sharing my Updated Morning Skincare Routine.

I have videos on all of the things I use in my Updated Morning Skincare Routine over on my YouTube channel if you want even more information.

I've also included a quick checklist you can print out for easy reference, below.

Let's dive into my Updated Morning Skincare Routine!

The first thing I do in the morning is cleanse my face.

I stopped using traditional cleansers about 9 months ago and switched to a more gentle and hydrating cleanser.

My favorite facial cleanser is this one by CeraVe. It’s the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser.

This cleanser is formulated for normal to dry skin. It gently cleanses, hydrates, and helps restore the protective skin barrier - or the skin’s lipid barrier.

It contains 3 ceramides (1, 3, 6-II) which are key in helping the skin to retain moisture.

What is the Lipid Barrier?

The Lipid Barrier is found in the Stratum Corneum.

The Stratum Corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis. The lipid barrier protects our bodies from damage, bacteria, allergens, trans-epidermal water loss, and environmental stressors. Protecting the lipid barrier is super important! Especially as we age.

After I cleanse my skin, I gently blot it off and keep it damp.

Anti-Aging Device

Next in my Updated Morning Skincare Routine, I go in with my NuFace Mini Petite Facial Toning Device. This is the one I use:

(There’s also an upgraded NuFace Advanced Trinity Facial Toning Kit with removable attachments for a more targeted anti-aging approach. I’ve linked that one here, as well, so you can see the additional attachments and their uses.)

Before I use the NuFace Mini Petite Facial Toning Device, I need to prep my skin (that’s why I keep it damp).

To prep my skin, I grab my NuFace Hydrating Primer Gel and apply a small pump of that all over my face.

It’s important that you use a gel primer so the NuFace Mini Petite Facial Toning Device glides comfortably over your skin.

I use the NuFace device to firm and tone my skin, to stimulate collagen and elastin production, for facial contouring and toning, and to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It takes me about 8 minutes to complete this part of my morning skincare routine.

Once I'm finished, I wash the NuFace Hydrating Primer Gel off so I can apply my serums.

Technically, I could leave the NuFace Hydrating Primer Gel on because it's infused with hyaluronic acid, which is amazing for helping the skin to retain moisture.

However, because I’m using very targeted serums, it’s important that my skin’s pH is at the appropriate level so my serums penetrate properly. Starting with clean skin ensures that.

I splash the NuFace Hydrating Primer Gel off and gently blot my skin, leaving it slightly damp.

The next step in my Updated Morning Skincare Routine is to apply my anti-aging serums.

The first serum I use is my Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum.

The Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum helps to brighten skin, build collagen, correct hyperpigmentation, and even out skin tone.

It helps to repair environmental damage to the skin’s cells while preventing further damage.

I use three pumps of the Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum all over my face, my neck, my upper chest, and the backs of my hands.

I rub that in and let that sit for about 15 seconds before I go in with my next serum.

Next I apply the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum.

The Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum is an antioxidant that energizes skin cells to rebuild collagen and elastin.

It’s infused with Matrixyl 3000 which helps to maximize the synthesis of collagen in the skin.

It’s an anti-aging powerhouse that, over time, works to repair and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

I use three drops of the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum and apply it exactly how and where I applied the Vitamin C serum.

After I apply my Timeless Coenzyme Q10 Serum, I go right in with my Matrixyl serums: Timeless Matrixyl 3000 Serum and Timeless Matrixyl Synthe'6 Serum.

I apply 3 drops of each exactly where I applied my CoQ10 Serum. I apply one Matrixyl then go right in with the other.

Using the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 Serum is like literally rebuilding your skin from the inside out. It stimulates collagen and improves overall skin elasticity, firmness and texture.

Tap here for The Benefits of Matrixyl 3000.

The Timeless Matrixyl Synthe’6 Serum contains six skin-building essentials with polypeptides that target pronounced wrinkles and expression lines. It helps to lift and plump the skin.

All of these serums are infused with hyaluronic acid. That helps to further lock in moisture and help to repair the skin’s lipid barrier.

Speaking of moisture... the next step in my Updated Morning Skincare Routine is to lock all of those wonderful serums into place and infuse my skin with even more moisture!

To do that I grab my Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum and my CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

The Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum is 100% pure. This serum contains 1% pure hyaluronic acid, the highest concentration to maintain the skin’s moisture. It super charges any moisturizer.

The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is infused with hyaluronic acid and ceramides so it helps the skin hold onto hydration while it restores the skin’s lipid barrier. It's my top moisturizer pick as part of my anti-aging skincare!

I take a small pump of my CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and add 2 drops of my Timeless Hyaluronic Acid Serum to it and apply it to my face, eyelids, neck, upper chest, and the backs of my hands.

Now all of those yummy serums and added moisture are locked into place! I’m literally feeding my skin from the outside in!

And remember, moisturized, hydrated skin, is youthful looking skin!

Sun Protection

There's no sense, literally no sense, in investing in an effective skincare routine if you’re not going to protect your skin from sun damage with by getting on board with an anti-aging sun protection routine. All it takes is a good quality sunscreen!

So the last step in my Updated Morning Skincare Routine is to apply either the CeraVe Hydrating Tinted Mineral Sunscreen with an SPF 30 ...

Or the Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Mineral Sunscreen with an SPF of 50.

I prefer mineral sunscreens over chemical sunscreens because the don't burn your skin or your eyes, so I can apply them everywhere. I also find they protect better.

I apply my mineral sunscreen to my face, eyelids, lips, neck, chest (where exposed) and the backs of my hands. (If I’m spending the day in the sun, I’ll reapply my sunscreen every couple of hours.)

From start to finish all of that takes me no more then 10-15 minutes and I’m set for the day!

Here I show you step-by-step my Updated Morning Skincare Routine!
